GOTS is a processing standard and at farm-level, it requires IFOAM Family of Standards organic certification (IFOAM Family of Standards | IFOAM). Those standards encompass private-owned and government regulations. For wool growers wishing to apply for organic certification in their respective regions a directory can be accessed here: Global Organic Certification Directory | IFOAM
An audit is an annually reocurring event (on-site) visit by an accredited auditor. Certifications to organic standards usually have to be renewed every 12 months.
