Brett Walker
7th Generation wool and mohair farmer
About Speaker
Brett Walker is a seventh-generation wool and mohair farmer from South Africa’s Eastern Cape. He manages Longacres, a 10,000-hectare family farm, running approximately 4,000 Merino sheep and 2,000 Angora goats.
A Stellenbosch graduate with international experience, Brett returned to the Karoo in 2010 to continue the family legacy. Building on decades of holistic grazing, he now applies regenerative farming practices to enhance soil health, improve animal performance, and strengthen long-term resilience.
Brett is actively involved in the Responsible Mohair Standard (RMS) and Responsible Wool Standard (RWS), with a strong focus on sustainability, animal welfare, and practical innovation in extensive farming systems.
We look forward to welcoming Brett as a speaker at Natural Fibre Connect 2026.
Join Brett and fellow industry leaders in Gqeberha, South Africa, as the sector explores how to navigate change while staying connected to the land.
